Venues

All conference sessions including the ACPET AGM on Thursday 28 August and the Tasting Tasmania Conference Celebration Dinner on Saturday 30 August will be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, located at 1 Davey Street, Hobart, TAS, 7000. The Welcome Reception on Thursday 28 August will be held at the stunning Hobart Function and Conference Centre on Elizabeth Street Pier. We have also included a couple of local favourites for the optional dinner on Friday night; the stunning Moorilla Winery and Hobart’s most awarded restaurant, Marque IV. On Sunday 31 August, the post conference lunch cruise will travel to Peppermint Bay.

Registration Desk

You will need to collect your conference satchel and name badge from the registration desk. The registration desk will be open in the Federation Ballroom Foyer at the Hotel Grand Chancellor as follows:

Wednesday 27 August                  3:30pm to 5:30pm             

Thursday 28 August                     7:30am to 5:45pm             

Friday 29 August                         7:30am to 5:30pm             

Saturday 30 August                     8:00am to 5:00pm             

Messages and Emergency Contact Details

Messages may be left for you during the conference by phoning the Hotel Grand Chancellor on 03 6235 4535 and asking for the message to be delivered to the ACPET 2008 National Conference Registration Desk. Faxes may be sent to 03 6223 8175. Emergency messages ONLY may be left by phoning 0408 498 860.  A message board will be located near the registration desk. Please check the message board regularly if you are expecting a message. Unfortunately messages cannot be delivered personally.

Program

An updated program is available on the program page of the website www.acpetconference.info/program.htm. All delegates will receive a copy of the updated program upon registration.

Concurrent Session Selections

You may attend the Concurrent Session of your choice, regardless of the session you booked when registering for the congress.

ACPET Annual General Meeting

The ACPET Annual General Meeting will be held in the Federation Ballroom from 1630 to 1730 on Thursday 28 August 2008. All ACPET members are encouraged to attend this members-only event. 

Name Badges and Tickets to Social Events

All delegates are required to wear name badges throughout the conference.  Name badges are your ticket of admittance to all conference sessions. Tickets for social events are located in the back of your name badge. Please ensure you bring these along to each social event.

Participant List

A participant list including name, organisation and state will be provided to all conference participants, sponsors and stakeholders.  If you do not wish to appear on this list please inform us in writing no later than Friday 22 August 2008.

Climate and Clothing

August in Hobart is winter and the average temperatures range from 5°C to 13°C. We recommend delegates dress in business attire for the conference and Historic Hobart Welcome Reception. For the optional dinners on Friday evening, smart casual attire will suffice. Please note Lounge Suit / Evening Wear is appropriate dress for the Conference Dinner on Saturday evening. The dress code for the Special Governor’s Reception on Wednesday evening is Lounge Suit / Day Dress.

Exhibition MarketPlace

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be held in the MarketPlace amongst our exhibitors on each day of the conference. Please take the time to visit them to discuss how their products and services can assist you. We have fantastic prizes for two lucky people who correctly complete the Exhibitor Prize Form. Please ensure your entries are handed in at the registration desk by the end of lunch on Saturday. The prize will be drawn from all completed correct entries at the High Tea on Saturday afternoon (you need to be in the room to win)

NOTE: While the Networking Reception and Conference Dinner are included in the full registration fee, we do understand that some people will be unable to attend due to work, family and/or travel commitments. Optional Moorilla Winery Wine tasting and gourmet dinner – Friday 29 August 2008

Moorilla Estate, on the Derwent River north of Hobart, is a top Tasmanian boutique vineyard sited on an estuary jutting into the placid and beautiful middle reaches of the Derwent River. Moorilla Estate combines a vineyard, winery, microbrewery, restaurant and café with an extraordinary collection of antiques and modern art. The bus departs Hotel Grand Chancellor at 1900 and returns at 2250.

This cosy award winning restaurant on Elizabeth Pier is Hobart’s best restaurant and an experience not to be missed. The menu has European and Mediterranean influences, and is driven by the local Tasmanian produce. Meet at the entrance to Hotel Grand Chancellor at 1900 for a short walk to the restaurant. 

Optional Networking Lunch Cruise to Peppermint Bay – Sunday 31 August 2008

Meet at the entrance of the Hotel Grand Chancellor at 1100 for a short stroll to Brooke Street Pier (5-minute walk from the hotel. Departing at 1130 from Brooke Street Pier (Hobart Cruises) in Sullivans Cove the Peppermint Bay Cruise offers a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Airport And Transport

Hobart Airport: It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the Hotel Grand Chancellor by car from the airport.  Transfer to the city centre by Airporter Bus will cost approximately $6. From the city centre a taxi to the Hotel Grand Chancellor will cost approximately $5.

Taxi: A taxi from the airport to the Hotel Grand Chancellor costs approximately $25.
